Treasurer Steiner Statement on Shootings by Federal Agents in Portland

Oregon State Treasurer Elizabeth Steiner issued the following statement following the shooting of two Portland residents earlier today.

Treasurer Steiner said:
Today, two Portlanders joined the mounting toll of people shot by federal agents during deportation actions. Oregonians deserve a full and honest accounting of what happened in East Portland. Homeland Security must suspend its reckless and dangerous operations in Portland while Portland Police officials complete a thorough and transparent investigation. We cannot give in to the climate of fear and intimidation the federal government has stoked on our streets. Let's stay calm, peaceful, and determined as we protect the safety of our neighbors and our communities.
