Community's Vision Takes Flight: Killeen's Skylark Field Terminal Opens Oct. 10

New terminal opening enhances operational capacity for aviation customers.

KILLEEN, Texas (Oct.6, 2025) -The City of Killeen's Aviation Department is excited to announce the grand opening of the Skylark Field Terminal on Friday, October 10th, at 10 a.m., located at 1525 Stonetree Drive. The community is invited to join the celebration, which will include a ribbon-cutting to mark this significant milestone in Killeen's ongoing aviation development.

The new 3,000-square-foot terminal, housed at Skylark Field Airport, is designed to enhance operational capacity, and improve services for aviation customers. The new terminal will accommodate a range of aviation services for both locally based and transient pilots, ensuring a seamless experience for all users.

"We are thrilled to officially open the Skylark Field Terminal and welcome everyone to experience our collective achievement," said Michael Wilson, Executive Director of Aviation. "This project embodies the dedication and hard work of many, and we look forward to it becoming a focal point of our community for years to come."

Skylark Field Terminal will feature a range of amenities, including a break room, vending machines, a complimentary coffee bar, a conference room, and a pilot's lounge equipped with recliners and charging stations. The Skylark Field Airport supports approximately 1,500 aircraft operations each month, offers AvFuel banded aviation fuels, houses 64 locally based aircraft, 48 hangars, and five businesses, with a dedicated staff of over two dozen employees.

Attendees can enjoy guided tours of the facility and can meet local leaders and visionaries who played a key role in bringing this project to fruition. The highlight of the day will be a special performance guaranteed to energize the crowd and make this momentous occasion truly special.
