During his latest interview as part of his "Short Talks with Mayor Long" video series, Mayor Nick Long explains why he and the League City Council earmarked money in the FY 2026 budget for the City to assume responsibility for the drainage of a small portion of League City that is currently managed by the Galveston County Consolidated Drainage District.
The land-approximately 4,000 acres on the City's west side-is currently undeveloped, but with the City's rapid growth and expansion, it will soon be populated with residential and commercial development. Mayor Long advocates that League City should take over the management of the land from the GCCDD because property owners will be taxed twice for drainage services. Watch the video to learn more.
