Montgomery Honors New Class of 911 Emergency Communications Graduates

The City of Montgomery proudly recognized seven outstanding graduates during a special ceremony held at the Emergency Communications 911 Department, celebrating their successful completion of one of the most demanding and vital training programs in public service.

The graduates, now certified to serve as emergency dispatchers and operators, were honored for their dedication, resilience, and readiness to serve as the first point of contact in times of crisis.

The ceremony highlighted the achievements of two new dispatchers:

  • ECD Nichole Taylor
  • ECD McKenzie Billups

And five new operators:

  • N. Harbin
  • Q. Nelson
  • J. McCurty
  • C. Glaze
  • T. Garcia

Each graduate completed many hours of intensive training over several weeks, mastering departmental policies, emergency procedures, and the intricate geography of Montgomery. They also trained on advanced communications systems and learned how to manage high-pressure situations with clarity, calm, and professionalism.

"Today, we proudly recognize seven outstanding graduates who have completed one of the most demanding and important training programs in public service," said Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed.

But beyond the technical skills, the ceremony emphasized the deeper calling of the profession.

"You've prepared yourselves to be the lifeline for someone in crisis," Reed continued. "You are now part of a team that is the first point of contact in an emergency, the steady voice in the chaos, and the unseen hero behind every successful response."

The City of Montgomery continues to invest in its emergency communications infrastructure and personnel, recognizing the critical role dispatchers and operators play in public safety. These new graduates now join a team of highly trained professionals who serve the community with courage, compassion, and commitment-24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
