Puntland Maritime Police Officers successfully participate in Maritime Domain Awareness Seminar

EUCAP Somalia successfully concluded its second Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) training seminar, which was delivered from 23 March to 08 April 2026 at its Field Office in Puntland. 19 Officers from the Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF) actively participated.

The programme was designed to strengthen the participants' technical competencies in key maritime areas, including the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREG), with particular emphasis on Part C (lights and shapes), as well as core principles of Safety at Sea and Navigation.

The training also included a practical sea survival session, where officers put into practice essential lifesaving skills, including the proper use of life jackets, the Heat Escape Lessening Position (HELP), and effective group survival techniques in the water.

The seminar marks another important step in strengthening maritime safety and further developing the operational readiness of the PMPF.
