Call for project promoters to submit new and updated project information for Hydrogen Infrastructure Map update

October 2, 2025

Today, six industry associations representing gas distribution, transmission, import terminals, and storage have launched a call to interested stakeholders to submit new project information for inclusion in the upcoming update of their joint Hydrogen Infrastructure Map.

This follows the launch of the interactive map on 13 December 2022, developed by CEDEC, ENTSOG, Eurogas, GD4S, GEODE, and GIE, in cooperation with the European Hydrogen Backbone Initiative. The interactive map showcases hydrogen projects planned for 2030, 2040 and 2050, and was created to comply with the European Commission's request expressed during the May 2022 36th European Gas Regulatory Forum to visualise "all hydrogen infrastructure projects collected under different existing processes in a form of a map."

This map was developed through a comprehensive, bottom-up data collection process, covering key infrastructure projects across the hydrogen value chain. This includes both infrastructure projects for demand and production, and projects developed in consortia by third-party promoters. Currently, the map features around 600 hydrogen projects.

Promoters of new projects are invited to submit their project details through the Hydrogen Project Information online form available on the Hydrogen Infrastructure map website. Submissions can be made until 17 October 2025. For existing projects that are already mapped, promoters can update their information by contacting [email protected]

Note to editors

Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) is the association representing the interests of European gas infrastructure operators active in gas transmission, gas storage and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) regasification. GIE is a trusted partner of European institutions, regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders. It is based in Brussels, the heart of European policymaking. GIE currently represents 72 member companies from 25 countries. GIE's vision is that by 2050, the gas infrastructure will be the backbone of the new innovative energy system, allowing European citizens to benefit from a secure, efficient and sustainable energy supply.

CEDEC is the European Federation of local energy companies, representing the interests of 2000 local and regional energy and broadband companies across Europe, serving 100 million electricity, gas and district heating customers and broadband connections. Active in every part of the value chain - generation, distribution grids and supply - these companies provide services which are reliable, sustainable and close to the consumer, making a significant contribution to local and regional economic development.

The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) was founded in line with Regulation (EC) 715/2009 and has played a key role in facilitating integration of the European gas markets, ensuring technical interoperability and providing security of supply by gas infrastructure planning. Looking forward, ENTSOG is contributing to the net-zero decarbonisation by 2050, in particular, by the integration of renewable and low carbon gases via future-proof gas transmission pipelines, in line with the EU energy and climate goals. More information on ENTSOG can be found on our website - https://www.entsog.eu or contact [email protected].

Eurogas is an association of over one hundred members representing gaseous energy in Europe. We lead the sector's transition to climate neutrality through dialogue with stakeholders and policymakers, so that gas can be effectively used for the decarbonisation of Europe's energy sector. We are active throughout the gas sector value chain, including renewable and low-carbon gases, their derivatives and carbon capture utilisation and storage. Our members cover wholesale and retail gas markets, the distribution of gaseous energies and the use of gas in transport. We also represent technology providers including companies active on value chain methane emissions management.

Gas Distributors for Sustainability (GD4S) unites 12 leading distribution system operators (DSOs) from nine EU Member States-Greece (Enaon), France (GRDF), Ireland (GNI), Italy (Italgas), the Netherlands (Alliander, Enexis, Stedin), Poland (PSG), Portugal (Floene), Spain (Nedgia), and Romania (DGSR)-alongside the United Kingdom (Cadent). Together, GD4S members manage more than 929,500 kilometres of distribution networks and provide energy to over 60 million customers. As operators deeply embedded in local communities, GD4S members are committed to supporting the EU's net-zero ambition. They are enabling the large-scale deployment of renewable gases such as biomethane and hydrogen, ensuring that Europe's energy transition is secure, sustainable, and people-centred.

GEODE is a European association representing local energy companies operating electricity and gas distribution networks committed to a sustainable, efficient and reliable management of the grids as the backbone of the energy system. Thanks to the technical expertise of its members, GEODE's mission is to accomplish the energy transition towards decentralised, decarbonised and digitalised energy systems.
