Fifteenth Governing Board Meeting of the South Asian University (SAU)
Convened on 03 February 2026

The Fifteenth Meeting of the Governing Board of the South Asian University (SAU) was convened virtually on 03 February 2026. The Meeting brought together distinguished representatives from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), member states alongside the President and senior leadership of the South Asian University and the representatives of the SAARC Secretariat.

The Meeting was chaired by Senior Prof. Kapila Senevirathne, Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka.

The Governing Board reviewed the progress achieved by the SAU during the reporting period, including the annual budget, advancements in academic programmes, administrative reforms, and financial planning. Discussions also focused on faculty development and the University's future strategic direction.

The South Asian University is one of the landmark institutions of regional cooperation under the SAARC and it plays a vital role in fostering academic collaboration, advancing regional research, and strengthening people-to-people ties within the South Asian region through its ongoing efforts undertaken to enhance academic excellence among the youths of the region and broaden its contribution to regional development.
