East Midlands Chamber has welcomed £298m of funding approved by the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) Board on 8th June, aimed at modernising transport in the cities and counties of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby and Derbyshire.
The cash allocation from the Mayoral Transport Fund follows an announcement in March of £470m of approved transport funding.
East Midlands Chamber Chief Executive Scott Knowles said: "Ensuring transport infrastructure can handle demand and can be relied on, both now and in the future, is essential, enabling workforces to get where they need to be, communities and supply chains to be fully supported and for business to progress.
"The Chamber has been calling for transport investment to help unlock the region's growth potential. It's one of the policy asks set out in our landmark publication - the Framework of Growth - so I welcome this investment as a step forward for Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby and Derbyshire."
