DALLAS - Sam Tasby Middle School has made a remarkable turnaround, jumping multiple letter grades to earn a B-rating and seven additional distinctions. Principal Nesha Maston credits the success to empowering teachers through real-time coaching, professional development, and strong support systems, while also giving students ownership of their learning. With renewed confidence and momentum, Tasby is now aiming for an A in the coming school year.

VISUALS:Mobile CTE experience for students
The Career and Technical Education mobile lab paid a visit to seventh graders at the School for the Talented and Gifted in Pleasant Grove this morning, Wednesday, Oct. 1. The innovative trailer brings hands-on learning in high-demand career fields straight to campuses, giving students early exposure to future career ideas and opportunities.

Students take a swing at cricket
At Franklin D. Roosevelt High School of Innovation, students will get the unique opportunity to learn more about the sport of cricket. At 9:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 3., Legendary player Sachin Tendulkar will visit the school on behalf of the National Cricket League and introduce students to the fast-growing, global sport. Afterward, students will have the chance to attend a professional cricket match for free at The University of Texas at Dallas.
