STATEMENT: Senator Blunt Rochester Releases Statement on Trump Administration’s Illegal Move to Withhold Funds from Delaware

Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) today released a statement on the Trump administration's announcement that it is illegally withholding funds from critical projects in Delaware. These funds were already appropriated by Congress.

"OMB Director Russ Vought's announcement that projects in Delaware are being terminated by the Department of Energy during the shutdown is a blatant attempt by the Trump administration to illegally withhold funds from states primarily led by Democrats. This has the potential to severely harm our economy by eliminating good-paying energy jobs and raising energy costs for the American people.

"No Delawareans, or any Americans for that matter, should be used as pawns in the Trump administration's political games. At a time when working families are already struggling with rising costs, the President is making that situation even worse."
