City Sends Formal Communication To Gkn Aerospace Requesting Company attend June 9 City Council Meeting

Yesterday, the City of Garden Grove sent a formal communication to GKN Aerospace CEO Peter Dilnot requesting that company representatives attend the June 9, 2026, City Council meeting to address the community directly regarding the hazardous chemical incident at the company's Western Avenue facility.

Signed by Mayor Stephanie Klopfenstein and the entire City Council, the letter calls on GKN to explain how the incident occurred, answer questions from impacted residents and businesses and provide a full accounting of the actions necessary to address public health, safety and community impacts.

Following evacuations, significant disruption to residents and businesses and a large-scale emergency response involving local and regional agencies, the City is continuing to seek accountability, transparency and direct communication from GKN.

As recovery efforts continue, the Garden Grove City Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday, June 9, at 5:00 p.m. to receive community updates from the County of Orange. The special meeting will take place at the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue, and air live at www.ggcity.org/ggtv3-live.

The regularly scheduled City Council meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the same location and will also be broadcast live at www.ggcity.org/ggtv3-live. Access agendas for upcoming meetings and past meeting agendas at https://agendasuite.org/iip/gardengrove
