Cybersecurity Tip of the Week – Free Trials Aren’t Always Free

Whether it's the latest AI tool, fitness app, streaming service, or online game, many free trials ask for more than just your email address. They may require a credit card, request access to your contacts or photos, or collect information about your browsing habits and online activity. Some automatically convert to paid subscriptions if you forget to cancel, while others may sell or share your data with third parties. Before signing up, take a moment to review what information you're providing, what permissions you're granting, and how your data will be used. Consider using a dedicated personal email address for free trials and subscriptions, and review your active subscriptions regularly to cancel services you no longer use. Remember, if a product is free, your personal information may be part of the price.
