YUMA, Ariz. - Registration is now open for the City of Yuma Parks and Recreation Department's free Certified Pool Operator (CPO) training, with 35 spots available. The course will take place Monday, October 27 and Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Yuma Civic Center (1440 W. Desert Hills Drive). Registration closes Tuesday, October 7 at 5 p.m.

Sponsored by the Greater Yuma Water Safety Alliance, this in-person course provides nationally recognized certification for individuals responsible for the safety and operation of public and commercial swimming pools.

Open to aquatic staff, health inspectors, code enforcement officers, and other professionals in the field, the two-day training runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Participants will learn essential knowledge and practices that support water safety, facility maintenance, and public health.

"In the greater Yuma area, our communities have long believed in the power of coming together - to learn, to share, and to protect one another. This spirit of collaboration is at the heart of our approach to water safety" shared Recreation Manager AJ Mosqueda. "By taking the Certified Pool Operator class as one community, we're not only gaining vital knowledge - we're building networks, pooling resources, and reinforcing our shared commitment to keeping every child, every family, and every facility safe."
