Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs participates in the Informal Ministerial Meeting of CICA Member States during the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly at The Westin New York Grand Central Hotel
On 25 September 2025, Ms. Rujikorn Saengchan, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, participated in the Informal Ministerial Meeting of the Member States of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) during the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly at The Westin New York Grand Central Hotel. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Mr. Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and adopted 4 key documents and decisions, namely (1) CICA Ministerial Council Statement on the 80th Anniversary of the End of and Victory in the Second World War (2) CICA Ministerial Council Statement on the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations (3) The Establishment of the CICA Finance Summit Mechanism (4) The Establishment of the CICA Women Council Mechanism.
The Director-General reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to CICA, particularly as the Coordinator for Sustainable Development and Co-Coordinator for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). She also highlighted Thailand's efforts in accelerating SDGs implementation by 2030 by organising training programmes on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP), sustainability, gender equality, ecotourism, and green economy, as well as providing platforms for the exchange of expertise and best practices for CICA Member States. Furthermore, the Director-General underscored Thailand's pivotal role as a bridge-builder in enhancing engagement between CICA and other regional and international organisations, including the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) of which Thailand is the current Chair.
