On October 29, 2025, Ambassador Liu Weimin visited a local farming household in Tongatapu's Vaini community to observe the operation of the newly installed home biogas system and learn about its operational process and effectiveness. He was accompanied by Kuli Fakalolo, Secretary of the Tonga National Livestock Farmers'Council, and experts from the seventh China-aided agricultural technical assistance project in Tonga.
Ambassador Liu had a cordial conversation with the family, and was interviewed by the Tonga Broadcasting Commission. He said that the project, which was funded by the Chinese Embassy in Tonga and implemented in collaboration with Tongan agricultural non-governmental organizations (NGOs), is a "small yet smart" livelihood initiative. It has been piloted in eight households to directly improve living conditions, facilitate environment protection, while reducing carbon emissions and enhancing climate resilience. Chinese Embassy will continue to strengthen cooperation with local NGOs to jointly promote Tonga's sustainable development.
Kuli and the user family thanked the Chinese Embassy for its generous support. They said that the home biogas system is safe and reliable. It can produce organic fertilizer while converting kitchen waste into cooking gas, which is beneficial for developing organic agriculture.
