OHS, Law Enforcement Agencies to Conduct DUI Checkpoint in Sussex County

DOVER, Del. (Sept. 4, 2026) - The Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS), in partnership with the Delaware State Police and local law enforcement agencies across the state, will conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Checkpoint on Friday, September 11, 2026, in Sussex County.

The checkpoint is part of Delaware's participation in the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign and is intended to identify and deter impaired driving. Law enforcement officers will be looking for impaired drivers and other traffic safety violations.

OHS reminds drivers that impairment is not limited to alcohol. Prescription medications, cannabis, and other drugs can also affect judgment, coordination, and reaction time, making it unsafe and illegal to drive impaired.

Motorists who plan to consume alcohol or use other impairing substances should make transportation arrangements in advance. Options include designating a sober driver, using a rideshare service or taxi, or arranging to stay at a location where driving is not required.
