The Office of Professional Regulation has released the results of the July bar exam. The July bar exam was held on July 29 and 30, with 181 individuals sitting for the test. Of the 181 applicants, 143 successfully passed and will be sworn in on Thursday, Sept. 11. A statistical review provided by the Iowa Judicial Branch shows the following:
• 76% (138) of those taking the exam were from Drake University or the University of Iowa, and 24% (43) of those taking the exam were from out-of-state law schools.
• 76% (70) of those taking the exam from Drake University passed, and 96% (44) of those taking the exam from the University of Iowa passed.
• 90% (163) of those taking the exam took it for the first time in Iowa.

To celebrate the occasion, the ISBA Young Lawyers Division will host a reception for newly admitted attorneys and their guests at The Iowa State Bar Association Building, 625 East Court Ave., Des Moines, first floor, on Sept. 11 from 3-5 p.m. Food and drinks will be provided.
