ODOT Announces Closure of Chauncey Cutoff

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) - District 10 announces the permanent closure of the Chauncey Cutoff, located between SR 682 and U.S. 33 in Athens County.

The closure takes effect on April 6. The Park and Ride located at the Chauncey Cutoff will also be permanently closed on this date.

The closure is part of ODOT's effort to improve safety along U.S. 33. Roundabouts were constructed last year at U.S. 33/SR 682 in The Plains, which can accommodate the extra traffic from the Chauncey cutoff.

Traffic currently accessing U.S. 33 west via the Chauncey Cutoff will continue on SR 682 to The Plains and take the U.S. 33 west exit at the roundabouts.

U.S. 33 traffic which is currently using the Chauncey Cutoff will take Exit 191 to The Plains/Chauncey.
