STATEMENT: Sen. Schiff Calls on Senate to Pass Three-Year Extension of Affordable Care Act Tax Credits Following U.S. House of Representatives Passage

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) released the following statement on the U.S. House of Representatives' passage of a clean three-year extension of Affordable Care Act health care tax credits.

"Right now, millions of Americans are seeing their monthly health care costs skyrocket because Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans refuse to extend Affordable Care Act health care tax credits and massively cut Medicaid funding. Families across the country are paying the price for Republicans' inaction and weighing impossible decisions of whether to pay for the lifesaving health care coverage they need or their food and rent.

"Inaction is not an option. The Senate must swiftly pass this three-year extension of ACA health care tax credits. Donald Trump and Republicans promised to bring down costs, instead their actions have squeezed everyday families and made everything more expensive. Having created this crisis, now is the time for Republicans to either join us in passing a clean three-year ACA tax credit extension, or to explain to Americans why they think rising health care costs for families are a good idea."
