Fire Headquarters Reconstruction Update - June 8, 2026
Reconstruction of the Fire Headquarters building at 491 Broadway is moving along nicely!
New interior tairways have been installed and the interior finish work continues. The installation of electrical, plumbiing, mechanical, appliances, & fixtures is ongoing. Exterior site work also continues.
This centrally located facility, the home of Engine 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Fire Prevention, Tech Services, PSIT (Public Safety Information Technology), the Command Staff and Administrative Offices, was originally occupied in February of 1934. Reopening is planned for fall of 2026.
