No Traffic Controls & Pass Updates

Alpine County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will not conduct traffic controls in Alpine County next week.

State Route 4 & 89

  • The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) issued a temporary closure of State Route 89 (Monitor Pass) on Tuesday, December 16, at 1:00 p.m. for the incoming series of storms. Caltrans maintenance crews will reassess the roadway next week for the safety of the traveling public.

Caltrans urges motorists to continue using caution and watch for icy road surfaces in the overnight and early morning hours, a reminder that all vehicles must carry chains, and please #DontCrowdThePlow.
