CHATHAM, VA - On Friday, Representative John McGuire (VA-05) hosted House Agriculture Committee Chairman GT Thompson for 5th District agriculture tours. The visit included a roundtable discussion and walking tour with local growers at Hammock Dairy, Inc., a visit to the Central Virginia Crop Expo, drone demo, and tour of Shelton Angus Farm.
"Agriculture is the backbone of Virginia's economy," said Rep. John McGuire (VA-05). "This sector provides over 440,000 jobs to hardworking men and women committed to supporting Virginia families and putting food on our tables. I was honored to host House Agriculture Committee Chairman GT Thompson to meet with the incredible local farmers and growers in Southside, Virginia. I appreciated the opportunity to hear their stories and learn how we can further support them in Congress. We must ensure they have the resources needed to continue providing for our great Commonwealth."

Representative McGuire and Chairman Thompson were joined by representatives from the Farm Credit of Virginia, the Virginia Farm Bureau, the Danville Chamber of Commerce, Virginia Cooperative Extension, Cobblestone Milk Cooperative, and the Virginia Grain Association.
