Main Trailer of 'The Blue Road' Sees Son Suk-ku and Eita Nagayama Team Up on a Gruesome Cross-Border Murder Investigation

Netflix has released the main trailer and key art for The Blue Road , a new series following two detectives who team up to investigate a series of gruesome cross-border murders marked by contorted bodies and cryptic messages, ahead of its November 20 premiere.

The newly released main poster grabs attention with the commanding presence of Kim Seok (Son Suk-ku), a detective with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and Inose (Eita Nagayama), a detective with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, set against a visual striking contrast: Japanese signage lines the streets behind Kim Seok, while Korean signs line up behind Inose, sparking curiosity about how the two detectives from different countries will join forces to solve a series of grotesque cross-border murders. Korean soccer fans draped in the national flag and dressed in red outfits suggest that the story unfolds in 2002, when the Korea-Japan World Cup was sweeping the nation.

The main trailer opens on an unsettling abduction, as a young girl is taken by an unidentified assailant while picking up a suspicious packet of meds inside a deserted building. After a body turns up with its limbs grotesquely contorted, Kim Seok offers to team up with Inose to solve the case - but Inose turns it down, making it clear that catching the killer is the only thing he cares about. The trailer also introduces a mysterious man listening to the eerie sound of bones snapping through his headphones as if it were music, leaving open the question of whether he's behind the murders. As yet another murder takes place, several new faces enter the picture: Li Yoon-ok (Kim Shin-rock), a Zainichi Korean businesswoman who challenges the detectives how far they're willing to go; Seo Hyun-tae (Jung Jae-young), a heavyweight in Japan's criminal underworld who finally comes face-to-face with Kim Seok; and Yoon Soo-kyung (Choi Sung-eun), a government agent who clashes with Inose. From the intense hand-to-hand combat between Kim Seok and Inose to the vast, snow-covered landscapes of Central Asia and the densely packed buildings of Hong Kong's Kowloon Walled City, the trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse of the hard-hitting action sequences and the sweeping visual spectacle of international locations awaiting viewers in The Blue Road .

Bringing together director Han Jun-hee's sophisticated and stylish mise-en-scène, the chemistry between Son Suk-ku and Eita Nagayama, and a stellar ensemble cast featuring Kim Shin-rock, Choi Sung-eun, and Jung Jae-young, The Blue Road promises a riveting hardboiled crime thriller that crosses borders. The series premieres November 20, exclusively on Netflix.
