Fifth for Acura in caution-filled sprint race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

The Acura Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian #60 ARX-06 finished fifth in the penultimate round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Tom Blomqvist took the green flag from pole position, maintaining the lead as the opening full-course caution emerged. However, following the team's pit stop and driver change, teammate Colin Braun was cycled to fourth in the running order as other entries opted for a short-fill strategy. The duo went on to take the checkered flag in fifth.

On the other side of the garage, the sister #93 Acura started from fifth on the grid, but contact from a competitor on the opening lap dropped Nick Yelloly to the back of the grid.

While positions were recovered, as co-driver Renger van der Zande ran in sixth during his stint, he was on the receiving end of two further on-track incidents. The pairing ultimately finished seventh.

Acura looks ahead to the final round of the season-Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta-where the #93 will continue to run its special 'Thank You' livery for the last race of the year to commemorate the end of Acura's stint in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship which has included 14 team, driver and manufacturer championships, 33 victories, 44 pole positions and three wins in the series' biggest test, the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

It was really difficult to drive the car and we struggled a lot to keep up. Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time before people would get by us. We lost positions in the first stint, and it ended up kind of being the same thing over the course of the rest of the race. We just didn't have the pace to do anything better today."

Colin Braun (#60 Acura Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian Acura ARX-06) Finished fifth: "It's tough when you start on the pole, you don't want to fall back and not finish first. We struggled a little bit in the longer runs, then a couple of cars short-filled on the pit stop, like they tend to do, and jumped us. We then tried taking two tires on the last stop to just try and make something happen. It was fun being up in the mix for a bit, but then we only had the two new tires and continued to struggle. I think P5 is a decent finish for us, especially because we've had our fair share of struggles on our side."

Nick Yelloly (#93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian Acura ARX-06) Finished seventh: "Our race was ruined in Turn 2, unfortunately. We were able to climb back up to P7 and I don't think we really had the pace for much more. The P5 finish for the #60 Acura was probably possible for us too, but we struggled in the long runs. Onwards and upwards to Petit where we have to finish off strong."

Renger van der Zande (#93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian Acura ARX-06) Finished seventh: "It was tough from the start when we got hit by the #40 car and we dropped all the way to the back. We moved forward quickly and I overtook a lot of cars. I think a P4 was possible today but I got hit by a GTD PRO competitor in the braking zone going into Turn 7, so that was a big loss there. I still had a little pace at the end, but not enough to really do well."
