Prime Minister hosts Cape Verdean counterpart and reaffirms the close ties between both counties

Prime Minister Luís Montenegro hosted the Prime Minister of Cape Verde Francisco Carvalho in Lisbon on Wednesday. Portugal was the destination for his first official visit abroad.

In a post on X, Luís Montenegro highlighted the historic and strategic relationship between the two countries, saying that Portugal and Cape Verde are "more than close partners"; we are "brother nations, united by a common language, shared culture and values, the unique affinity between our peoples, and the important communities we welcome in our respective countries".

The Prime Minister also underlined the shared determination to deepen bilateral cooperation, noting that, despite the extensive work already undertaken together, "with Cape Verde, we always want to do more. That is the path we will continue to follow, together."

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both Governments to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, deepening the political, economic, cultural and people-to-people ties between Portugal and Cape Verde.
