Concert to Bring Crowds, Campus Transit Changes

A concert at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field is set to bring more than 44,000 attendees to campus on Friday, Oct. 3, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Event-related operations changes will begin as early as Wednesday and continue until Saturday around 1 a.m., affecting roads, parking, and campus transit services.

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to plan accordingly and avoid affected areas.

Road Closures and Traffic Changes

Road closures will begin Wednesday, including portions of Techwood Drive and Brittain Drive. Additional closures on Thursday and Friday will affect Bobby Dodd Way, North Avenue, Techwood Drive, Fowler Street, and Fourth Street, with some streets converted to one-way traffic.

Transit Adjustments

Campus transit will also be affected:

  • The Circulator Route will not be in service Wednesday through Friday.
  • The Blue and Red Routes will operate with detours starting Wednesday at 7 a.m., continuing through Friday.
  • The Gold Route will run a modified schedule beginning at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, connecting campus to the Midtown MARTA Station.
  • Stingerette nighttime service will not operate on Techwood Drive or at the Clough Commons turnaround due to closures.

Parking: Move Vehicle Notices

Several parking areas will be closed to permit holders to accommodate event parking, beginning at the following dates and times:

Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 10 p.m.

  • E48: Wardlaw Center

Thursday, Oct. 2, at 10 p.m.

  • ER51: Fowler Street, Brittain Drive, and Techwood Drive

  • ER55: Fowler Street

Friday, Oct. 3, at noon

  • E45: Tech Tower Lot

  • E46: Burge Deck

  • E49: Alumni Lot

  • E52: Peters Deck

  • Area 1: North Avenue

Pedestrian Access

Pedestrian access on Bobby Dodd Way will be closed starting at noon on Friday, and access along North Avenue will be restricted to the south sidewalk between Luckie Street and Techwood Drive.

Housing

Residents in East Campus housing should be aware that there will be significant light and noise during the concert, from around 8 to 11 p.m.
