The Frostburg Outdoor Recreation Economy Institute (FOREI) at Frostburg State University will present two-time National Champion Adventure Racer Jesse Tubb at the Bobcat Resilience Leadership Workshop with GRIT Adventures. The workshop will take place on Thursday, Oct. 16, with three sessions available at 9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the Lane University Center in Room 111.
These free interactive workshops provide an experience that blends leadership development with resilience training. The sessions explore the core principles of resilience and authentic leadership through engaging discussions and a hands-on, adventure-based experience that brings the lessons to life. By the end, participants will gain the knowledge to plan for integrating these skills into their academic, professional and personal lives. The Resilience Leadership Workshop is designed for students, emerging leaders and anyone seeking to strengthen their ability to lead with clarity, adaptability and confidence
Tubb is a 28-year U.S. Army veteran and former Section Leader of the U.S. Army Band "Perishing's Own." He is the founder of GRIT Adventures, an experimental learning program that builds resilience and leadership through adventure racing. Tubb competed in the 2019 Eco Challenge event and is a two-time U.S. Adventure Racing Association National Champion. A certified coach and master resiliency trainer, he has trained with leading programs in mindfulness and resilience and works with organizations nationwide to strengthen mental fitness and authentic leadership. As both a world-class endurance athlete and an experienced facilitator, Tubb brings a unique blend of grit, mindfulness and practical tools to help others thrive in both high-stakes and everyday situations.
"Leadership is not just for high-stakes moments, everyday decisions define who we are," said Jeffrey Simcoe, executive director of FSU's FOREI. "This workshop will help participants reset their mindset, so leadership consistency becomes second nature. Jesse Tubb brings a rare combination of military discipline, endurance racing experience and deep training in resilience and mindfulness. His background ensures workshop participants walk away with tools they can use immediately."
These workshop sessions are made possible by the FSU FOREI, with funding provided by the FSU Foundation - Kim and Marion Leonard Mindful Leadership of Self & Others Experiential Learning Fund.
