SR-163 to Northbound 5 Connectors and I-5 Hawthorn Street Off Ramp Closed Evenings June 12 – 13

SAN DIEGO - Caltrans will close the Interstate 5 (I-5) northbound off-ramp to Hawthorn Street and northbound and southbound State Route 163 (SR-163) connectors to northbound I-5 on Friday, June 12, from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. and Saturday, June 13, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving work.

Motorists headed to Hawthorn Street will continue northbound on I-5 to the Sassafras Street/India Street off-ramp. Then turn left onto Sassafras Street to the southbound Pacific Highway and proceed south to West Hawthorn Street.

Motorists on northbound SR-163 will continue northbound, then use the westbound I-8 connector, then to the northbound I-5 connector.

Motorists on southbound SR-163 will continue southbound, then use the southbound I-5 connector, then use the Imperial Avenue off-ramp, turn left onto Imperial Avenue, and then turn left onto the northbound I-5 on-ramp.

Motorists are reminded to be Work Zone Alert if traveling in the area and to watch for highway workers and moving construction equipment.
