Dr. Richard White

White will open the week of Octubafestivities with a presentation from his autobiography, I'm Possible, which recounts his inspiring story of perseverance, love of music, and triumph over adversity.

Audience members are encouraged to attend in costume as part of the event's "OcTubaween" celebration.

White is an associate professor of tuba and euphonium and principal tubist for the New Mexico Philharmonic.

He earned his bachelor's degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and his master's and Ph.D. from Indiana University, studying under renowned tuba masters David Fedderly and Daniel Perantoni.

In addition to his musical career, White travels globally as a motivational speaker, sharing his message that "I am possible. You are possible. Everything is possible." His journey is featured in the documentary R.A.W. Tuba, the second installment of the Invisible Thread series produced by Early Light Media.
