'Tis the season to show support for Planned Parenthood and continue the fight for sexual and reproductive health and rights
It's easy to be a Scrooge this holiday season. The public health care crisis is worsening, and lawmakers - bent on taking away our rights - continue to make affordable health care even harder to access.
This year brought an escalated onslaught of attacks from the Trump administration and its backers in Congress. In nearly one year, they've set out to further restrict abortion access; "defund" Planned Parenthood; target LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, and medically underserved communities; distort medical expertise and undermine public health; and shut down evidence-based information.
Amid this administration's chaos and cruelty, the next few months are an opportunity to reflect on what matters most to us, and plan for the year while centering our values. Here are six ways to combat these harmful policies and put sexual and reproductive health and rights advocacy at the heart of your holiday plans.

Gift PPFA's new card game "Tell Me About It | Cuéntame" developed by Planned Parenthood sex educators to engage kids and the adults who love them in fun sex ed convos.
The "Tell Me About It | Cuéntame" card game prompts open, honest talks around topics like puberty, healthy relationships, bullying, and online safety. Available in English and Spanish, the "Tell Me About It | Cuéntame" card deck answers kid-tested questions with age-appropriate, medically accurate answers.
Donate on a loved one's behalf to an abortion fund or organization that protects and expands reproductive rights.
Planned Parenthood health centers across the country partner with national and local abortion funds to help people who need abortion care get financial aid, travel support and other resources. A gift to an abortion fund or a local Planned Parenthood organization can help someone get safe, legal care, despite political barriers.
Many organizations are also on the front lines, working tirelessly toward reproductive health, rights, and justice for marginalized communities. There's United We Dream, Marsha P. Johnson Institute, National Black Justice Coalition, National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, National Asian Pacific Women's Forum, National Korean American Service & Education Consortium, Sister Song, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, and In Our Own Voice - to name a few!
Pro-abortion rights swag is a great gift for the passionate advocate in your life.
Consider gifting merch that proudly affirms abortion access and bodily autonomy. It makes the perfect mission-driven statement for anyone who supports reproductive freedom - which we know is, uh, most people. In fact, 85% of Americans want abortion to be legal.
Plan an SRH-forward TV or movie night with family or friends.
Story lines that portray sexual and reproductive health (SRH) in an honest, healthy and stigma-free way can create powerful connections. Movies that get SRH right are also teachable moments that break down the shame around sexual and reproductive health. The movie Babes, for example, features partners who tackle sexual consent - an essential part of intimacy often ignored in sex scenes on TV and in films.
Films like Never Rarely Sometimes Always and Unpregnant show how abortion bans jeopardize the ability of young people to control their reproductive lives. This storytelling highlights the everyday consequences of harmful laws on people seeking timely, essential health care.
Support brands that champion sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Shop with intention and support businesses that share your values. This year, consider buying brands that invest in and/or advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights. PPFA has proudly partnered with brands such as Benefit Cosmetics through its Bold is Beautiful program, which supports initiatives that empower women and girls, as well as Pleasing, Harry Styles' lifestyle company that encourages people to take control of their own sexual pleasure and wellness.
Consider New Year's resolutions that focus on sexual and reproductive health.
Whether you make a commitment to take better charge of your own sexual health or support an organization advancing our rights - or both - your 2026 resolution is an opportunity to center your health as well as the health and rights of everyone else in the world. Set up a schedule for regular STI testing; revisit your birth control options to make sure you have the method that's best for your lifestyle, family goals, and reproductive future; or volunteer with your local abortion provider.
