ICYMI: DNC Announces Additional $1.5 Million Investment Into the New Jersey Coordinated Campaign to Help Democrats Win Up and Down the Ballot Arrow

Yesterday, the DNC announced our latest $1.5 million investment into New Jersey's Coordinated Campaign to turbocharge Democrats' grassroots organizing during the final sprint to November. This $1.5 million investment builds on the DNC's initial investment, bringing the total to $3 million - the largest investment the DNC has ever made in the Garden State during an off-year election.

From now until Election Day, the DNC is all hands on deck to support New Jersey Democrats in keeping the governor's mansion blue, expanding Democrats' power in the state legislature, and securing electoral victories across the state.

Take a look at some of the coverage below:

On Broadcast:

NJ Spotlight News: "The Democratic National Committee has announced it's doubling down, spending an additional $1.5 million to help elect Democrat Mikie Sherrill, bringing their total spending on this election to $3 million - that's the most the DNC has ever spent in New Jersey in an off-year election cycle. Now, the DNC says it will spend that money on hiring more organizers to talk to voters in Jersey, including expanding outreach to constituencies they say they lost ground with in the presidential election, including Black, Latino, and Asian American voters."

[Joey Fox and David Wildstein, 9/16/25]

"A month after putting down a $1.5 million investment into New Jersey to boost Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair)'s gubernatorial campaign, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is going double-or-nothing.

"With seven weeks left to go before Election Day, the DNC announced this morning that it will send an additional $1.5 million to the New Jersey Democratic Party's coordinated campaign to hire new on-the-ground staff, make more voter contacts, and experiment with new tactics and tools to sway voters in the races for governor, State Assembly, and local office. According to the DNC, it's the largest investment the national party has ever made in an off-year New Jersey election.

"'With stakes this high for New Jerseyans, the DNC is all in to support Democrats up and down the ballot who have a proven record of delivering results for New Jersey,' DNC Chairman Ken Martin said in a statement.

"DNC money will also be used to expand outreach in New Jersey's Black, Hispanic, and Asian American communities, which swung towards Republicans last year and which Martin told the New Jersey Globe his party is committed to winning back.

"'One of the things we can't do any longer is just assume that communities of color are automatically going to support Democratic candidates, meaning that we need to engage them early in conversation around their hopes and dreams for their communities,' Martin said. 'And that's what we've been working with our county parties in New Jersey and the state party on doing throughout the summer and fall.'"

Semafor: Exclusive / Democrats put another $1.5 million into New Jersey race

[David Weigel, 9/16/25]

"The Democratic National Committee will spend another $1.5 million on New Jersey's off-year gubernatorial race, upping its commitment in a state that Republicans believe is trending their way.

"According to the DNC, the new money will be coordinated with the state Democratic Party and its organizing work, testing 'new tactics and tools' and reaching 'key constituencies that we lost ground with' last year.

"'The stakes couldn't be higher and we're leaving nothing to chance to win up and down the ballot in New Jersey,' DNC chair Ken Martin told Semafor. 'We're already seeing vast erosion of Trump's' coalition in 2024, particularly among Latino voters and young voters in New Jersey and across the country.' …

"'New Jerseyans know that Donald Trump sold them a bill of lies and has done nothing to make this state more affordable,' he said. 'We're going to make sure every New Jerseyan knows the stakes of this election and how electing Ciattarelli is exactly what Donald Trump wants.'"

[Jared Gans, 9/16/25]

"The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is making a second $1.5 million investment in the New Jersey gubernatorial race, bringing its total to $3 million devoted to electing Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.) in November.

"The total is the most that the DNC has ever spent in New Jersey during an off-year election cycle, the organization said in a release Tuesday. The investment will contribute to hiring more regional directors, organizers and staff, funding voter contact efforts, testing new tactics and tools to ensure messaging is resonating with voters and expanding the party's reach with key groups it lost ground with in November, including Black, Latino and Asian American voters.

"'With stakes this high for New Jerseyans, the DNC is all in to support Democrats up and down the ballot who have a proven record of delivering results for New Jersey,' DNC Chair Ken Martin said in a statement."

The Center Square: National Dems boost support for Sherrill despite polling lead

[Christen Smith, 9/16/25]

"The Democratic National Committee said Tuesday its $1.5 million donation will be the most the organization has ever spent in the Garden State during an off-election year. It will also help down-ballot candidates through the New Jersey Democratic Coordinated Campaign by funding more staff and extending outreach to minority communities where votes dwindled in 2024. …

"DNC Chairman Ken Martin says it's Ciattarelli's 'blind allegiance' to the Trump administration that makes his platform a bad deal for residents.

"'With a historic total of $3 million now invested in the New Jersey Democratic Coordinated Campaign, the DNC is organizing everywhere to elect strong, commonsense leaders like Mikie Sherrill and those at the local level who will stand up to Trump while tackling affordability, improving health care, and bringing down housing costs,' he said."
