Tallahassee, Fla., September 10, 2025 - Today, Florida's Commissioner of Education, Anastasios Kamoutsas, announced a major investment in Florida's future teachers. With an additional $1.6 million awarded through the Pathways to Career Opportunities Grow Your Own Teacher Grant (PCOG GYO), the state's total allocation to this program now reaches $15 million. This funding expands the no-cost teacher apprenticeship program across the state, helping strengthen the teacher pipeline by creating paths for aspiring educators.
This program leverages the power of apprenticeships by providing a no-cost, immersive pathway into the teaching profession. Unlike traditional training programs, this program prioritizes hands-on learning, where aspiring educators gain real-world experience under the guidance of seasoned teachers. By focusing on practical, in-classroom training, PCOG GYO creates a robust, well-prepared teacher pipeline for Florida's schools.
"When we invest in future educators, we invest in the success of every classroom across Florida," said Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas. "The Grow Your Own Teacher Grant supports aspiring teachers on their path to enter the profession, ensuring Florida schools have teachers that are well prepared and committed to helping students succeed."
