The Office of Student Engagement and Connections will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on Wednesday, Jan. 21, to celebrate its new office space in Thompson Student Union Room 1512.
The office is now located on the first floor of Thompson Student Union near the Student Organization Resource Room. The new space offers expanded capacity to better support students and student organizations.
"The team is ecstatic to be in the new space," said Alex Zernechel, director of student engagement and campus events. "This location provides us with ample room to better support our students and student organizations. With two dedicated programmatic spaces in the suite, we're excited to see how student organizations use the space to foster community and connection."
The newly established Office of Student Engagement and Connections also will launch several initiatives, including the Sophomore Leadership Challenge and the Community Engagement Focus Group.
"We look forward to this space serving as a hub for engagement helping students build stronger connections to the University while creating memories that extend beyond graduation," Zernechel added.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will include remarks from UToledo President James Holloway and Provost Mitchell McKinney; Jason Toth, senior associate vice president for administration; Sara Clark, assistant dean of students; Aleiah Jones, director of connection and student success; Jaden Bollinger, Student Body vice president; and Zernechel.
The open house will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature interactive stations showcasing the office's resources and services. Activities will include button making, hands-on engagement opportunities and a resource library.
The office mail stop will remain 105, and the phone number will remain unchanged.
