City’s annual Neighborhood Cleanup starts January 26

The City of Yuma Public Works Department will begin its annual Neighborhood Cleanup program on Monday, January 26, 2026, offering curbside collection of bulky household items for residents within Yuma city limits.

The program runs from late January through early April with the divided into 10 designated areas. Each area is assigned one week for curbside collection of eligible household bulk items. For residents' convenience, detailed descriptions and maps of each area are available at www.yumaaz.gov/neighborhoodcleanup.

The first pickup zone includes the area from Colorado Street to West Main Canal and from Avenue A to the west city limits.

Residents should place approved items at the curb at the beginning of their neighborhood's designated collection week. If collection does not occur immediately, items should remain at the curb until pickup is completed.

The Neighborhood Cleanup program is available to residents living within Yuma city limits only and is provided at no additional cost.

Materials that qualify as household hazardous waste - including chemicals, paint, pesticides, fertilizers, batteries, and electronic waste - are not accepted through the Neighborhood Cleanup program and must be taken to a Household Hazardous Waste drop-off event.

Items accepted include:

Old furniture, mattresses, carpets, and household appliances, as well as bagged lawn clippings. Residents may also place tree limbs at the curb, provided they are no longer than four feet in length, securely tied and bundled, and weigh no more than 50 pounds. In addition, up to five tires without rims per residential location will be accepted; commercial or farm tires are not eligible for collection.

Items not accepted include:

Roofing and construction materials, tree stumps, concrete, or dirt. Household hazardous waste-such as motor oil, pesticides, and other chemicals-will not be collected, nor will tires with rims. Abandoned or commercial vehicles, farm equipment, and any form of commercial dumping are also prohibited.

Program guidelines:

  • Place all items at the curb at the beginning of your neighborhood's designated week.
  • Do not place items near trash containers, water meters, or block sidewalks.
  • Loose items must be bagged, boxed, or tied and weigh no more than 50 pounds.
  • Place appliances, tires, bound limbs, and miscellaneous items into separate piles for easier handling; each pile will be handled by a different crew.
  • Items should not be placed in alleys, except for homes facing Avenue A.
  • Keep items you do not want collected well away from the curb and public rights-of-way surrounding your residence.
