Spring 2026 Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Scholarship recipients announced

The Institute for Inclusive and Transformative Scholarship is pleased to announce scholarship recipients for the Spring 2026 Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Scholarships. Students will each receive a $3,000 stipend to conduct research or pursue a creative project over 12-weeks under the supervision of a faculty mentor. For faculty, it is an opportunity to work closely with, and mentor an undergraduate student.

Funding for the scholarships is provided by the Higher Education Research Council of the Idaho State Board of Education, Boise State's Division of Research and Economic Development, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the School of Public Service.

The 18 awardees for the Spring 2026 scholarships are:

  • Emily Baclayon, Mechanical Engineering. Faculty research mentor: Anamaria Zavala
  • K'Lee Burbank, Criminal Justice. Faculty research mentor: Jaclyn Kettler
  • Sarah Darney, Nursing. Faculty research mentor: Katherine Doyon
  • Josue Duran, Environmental Science. Faculty research mentor: Owen McDougal
  • Daniela Duran Aguilar, International Business. Faculty research mentor: Nicole Brun-Mercer
  • Lauren Gold, Chemistry. Faculty research mentor: Jenée Cyran
  • Genavieve Golightly, Mechanical Engineering. Faculty research mentor: Tyler Brown
  • Haley Gomes, Communications. Faculty research mentor: Cassidy Taladay-Carter
  • Simone Gonzalez, Biology. Faculty research mentor: Don Warner
  • Kinsey Hyer, Professional and Public Writing. Faculty research mentor: Jennifer Mallette
  • Katie Lysne, Kinesiology. Faculty research mentor: Eric Martin
  • Hannya Ornelas, Nursing. Faculty research mentors:Tracee Chapman & Katherine Doyon
  • Kayla Pratte, Kinesiology. Faculty research mentor: Eric Martin
  • Abaigael Richards, Kinesiology. Faculty research mentors: Lynda Ransdell, Laura Petranek
  • Briana Rojas, Health Science. Faculty research mentor: Ken Cornell
  • Talan Rudley, Psychology. Faculty research mentor: Edward Ferrier
  • Nyelah Smith, Engineering Plus. Faculty research mentor: Erin Mannen
  • Madelyn Woods, Environmental Science. Faculty research mentor: Ellyn Enderlin
