The new Elders Weather frequently asked questions

1. Why are we changing Elders Weather?

We're rebuilding Elders Weather to make it easier to use on all devices; desktop, tablet, and mobile.

The update improves site speed, accessibility, and reliability, while keeping the same trusted forecasts, maps, and tools you already use.

2. What will change on the new website?

The new Elders Weather features:

  • Improved navigation and layout - making it easier for you to quickly find what you want.
  • Faster loading times for all pages - no tedious wait times for radars maps to load.
  • Better performance on mobile and tablet devices - the site is designed with mobile users in mind.
  • Enhanced accessibility for all users - because people of all abilities deserve access.
  • A cleaner, modern design - easier for you to read.

You'll still find every weather tool you know: forecasts, rainfall outlooks, radar maps, tide times, and more, just easier to locate and explore.

3. Are all the same features still available?

Almost every core feature and dataset from the previous site is still available, including:

  • National, state and local forecasts - available under the forecasts tab, or search a specific location by place town name or postcode.
  • 7-day and 28-day outlooks - use quick links under Forecast for national, state and major towns, or search for specific location.
  • Radar and satellite maps - use the satellite overlays to show additional information.
  • Rainfall summaries - available by location. 12-month rainfall forecasts also available.
  • Sun and moon times - refer to location pages.
  • Tide information - refer to location pages
  • Climate and historical data - available in 3-monthly or full 12-month climatology.

Unfortunately, information for dam levels is no longer available to present.

4. Will my old bookmarks still work?

Yes. Any bookmarks or saved links to pages on the previous site will automatically redirect to the new page structure. Don't worry. If a page looks slightly different, it's because the layout has been simplified for faster loading and easier reading. Tip: We recommend updating your bookmarks once you've visited the new site.

5. What devices will I be able to use the new site on?

The new Elders Weather has been built for all modern browsers and devices, including:

  • Google Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox (latest versions)
  • iOS (Apple) and Android phones and tablets
  • Desktop and laptop computers

Please note: older browsers such as Internet Explorer are no longer supported.

6. Will the site look different on my phone?

Yes, the site automatically adapts to your screen size for the best experience on any device.

This "responsive design" means you'll see simplified menus and layouts on mobile, so pages load quickly even with slower connections.

7. I can't find something that used to be on the old site. What should I do?

All major features are still available, but some may be found under new headings.

Try checking:

  • Radars and Maps for radar, rainfall and satellite data. Use the satellite overlays to display additional information.
  • Your Local Forecasts for tides, sun and moon times, and 7-day forecasts.

If you still can't find what you're looking for, please send us feedback (see below).

8. Has my local weather station data changed?

No. Elders Weather continues to source its data from the same reliable sources, feeds and local weather stations across Australia.

Your location's forecast, rainfall and temperature data are exactly as before, just displayed through a new interface.

9. How can I share feedback about the new site?

We'd love to hear your thoughts. Your feedback helps us continue improving the experience. You'll be able to submit feedback directly via the Feedback form in the new website footer.

10. What's next for Elders Weather?

Elders Weather will continue to provide accurate, local forecasts and data you can depend on every day. We'll keep reviewing and improving the site in response to user feedback - including performance refinements, visual updates, and enhanced mobile features.

Stay tuned for a new look app experience in 2026!
