Clarkson Launches New Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Minor

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming how people work, create and solve problems, becoming one of the most influential technologies of the modern era. To help students prepare for an AI-driven future, Clarkson University is launching a new undergraduate minor in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Designed to complement a wide range of majors, the interdisciplinary program will provide students with foundational knowledge in machine learning, artificial intelligence, data analysis and computational problem-solving while emphasizing practical applications across industries.

The new minor reflects growing demand for professionals who can understand, develop and apply AI technologies in fields ranging from healthcare and manufacturing to cybersecurity, robotics, business and sustainability. Students will gain hands-on experience working with modern AI tools and techniques while exploring how intelligent systems can address real-world challenges.

Open to students from a variety of academic backgrounds, the minor combines coursework in machine learning, programming, mathematics and data-driven decision-making with elective opportunities that allow students to tailor the program to their interests. Areas of study may include robotics, computer vision, deep learning, ethics and other emerging AI applications.

The program builds on Clarkson's strengths in engineering, computing, analytics and experiential education. Students will have opportunities to engage with faculty conducting research and innovation in artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics and data science.

As employers increasingly seek graduates with AI-related expertise, the minor will help students enhance their career readiness while providing a strong foundation for advanced study and research.
