Employers honored for their commitment to hiring and retaining workers with disabilities
MADISON - In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development's (DWD) Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) is honoring eight Wisconsin businesses for their commitment to inclusive hiring practices and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
"Wisconsin employers recognize that building a strong workforce means recognizing the skills, talents, and contributions of individuals of all abilities," said DWD Secretary Amy Pechacek. "These eight employers are helping create workplaces where individuals have opportunities to succeed, and we are proud to recognize their commitment to a more inclusive Wisconsin workforce."
Each business received a certificate signed by Secretary Pechacek recognizing its efforts to create inclusive workplaces, provide accommodations that help employees succeed, and keep Wisconsin's economy moving forward.
The businesses awarded this year include:
| Doggie Business, LLC | Holmen, Wis. |
| Dynatect Manufacturing, Inc. | New Berlin, Wis. |
| Festival Foods | De Pere, Wis. |
| Fresh Thyme Market | Milwaukee, Wis. |
| Great Harvest Bakery Café | Janesville, Wis. |
| Kenosha Cemetery Association (Greenridge Cemetery) | Kenosha, Wis. |
| Valley Fudge & Candy | Coon Valley, Wis. |
| West Bend Sausage Plus | West Bend, Wis. |
Observed each October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month highlights the contributions of workers with disabilities and the importance of inclusive workplaces. Through partnerships with employers across Wisconsin, DVR helps individuals with disabilities connect with meaningful employment opportunities while helping businesses meet their workforce needs.
Employers interested in hiring individuals with disabilities can connect with DVR's Business Services team to learn about available resources and services. See past NDEAM recipients at DWD's website.
