Elevator Rescue from a Blind Shaft

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1st, Cambridge Firefighters, using all safety procedures, harnesses & rope rescue equipment, effected entry into a blind elevator shaft to rescue a person who was trapped in a stalled elevator between floors 8 & 11 of a hi-rise bldg on Memorial Drive.

The person was safely removed with no injuries.

Fire companies continually train in the various Tech Rescue skills. Just this past week, Cambridge Fire Companies have operated at three Technical Rescue incidents and two HazMat Incidents.

Ladder 3, Rescue 1, & Division 1 operated at this incident.
