Outcome of Korea-Egypt Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (September 26)

Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun had a meeting with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty on the afternoon of Friday, September 26, local time, on the occasion of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The two Ministers exchanged views on issues of mutual interest including bilateral cooperation.

The Ministers celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Egypt, and appreciated that the two countries have advanced substantive cooperation in various fields, including economy, infrastructure, and culture, since the establishment of ties in 1995. In particular, they expressed their expectation that the upcoming dispatch of the Korean President's Special Envoy will serve as meaningful momentum for the advancement of bilateral relations, and agreed to further develop the Korea-Egypt comprehensive cooperative partnership.

Minister Abdelatty expressed his pleasure that the activities of leading Korean companies in Egypt have contributed to Egypt's economic development. In response, Minister Cho asked for Egypt's continued attention to Korean businesses, and expressed his hope that the two countries further expand mutually beneficial cooperation on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

This Korea-Egypt Foreign Ministers' Meeting, held in a timely manner to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, served as an opportunity to reaffirm the shared commitment of the two countries to expanding substantive cooperation.
