Read Out: January 29th Committee Business Meeting

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today issued the following statement after members passed four nominees and ten pieces of legislation out of committee.

"I'm pleased with the swift passage of legislation today that will directly better American interests around the world. Legislation such as the No Tax Dollars for Terrorists Act will stop the use of taxpayer dollars to support the Taliban, and my SHADOW Fleet Act will sanction the ships Russia uses to prop up its energy sector - both critical steps to protect America taxpayer dollars and our national security.

"Additionally, this committee successfully passed several of President Trump's nominees who are now one step closer to filling essential posts around the globe."

S.2222 - Taiwan Undersea Cable Resilience Initiative Act (Curtis, Rosen)

S.3249 - Strategic Subsea Cables Act (Barrasso, Shaheen)

S.3360 - FREEDOM Act (McCormick, Rosen)

S.1216 - Taiwan Allies Fund Act (Curtis, Van Hollen)

S.1369 - Protecting Global Fisheries Act (Cassidy, Kaine)

S.2236 - YALI Act (Rounds, Van Hollen)

Mr. Frank Weiland to be assistant secretary of State for international narcotics and law enforcement affairs.

Ms. Jennifer Wicks McNamara to be ambassador to Vietnam.

Mr. Eric Meyer to be ambassador to Sri Lanka.

Mr. Gregory LoGerfo to be Coordinator for Counterterrorism.
