Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming Attends Reception in Celebration of the 71st Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the People’s Republic of[...]

On August 13, 2026, the reception in celebration of the 71st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and Nepal & 2026 China-Nepal Friendship Short Video Contest Awards Ceremony were held in Kathmandu. H.E. Mr. Zhang Maoming, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, and H.E. Mr. Amrit Bahadur Rai, Foreign Secretary of Nepal attended and delivered speeches. More than 300 representatives from various sectors of both countries participated in the event.

Ambassador Zhang Maoming stated that Nepal-China relations have a long history and remain robust over time. China stands ready to work with Nepal to implement the important common understandings reached by the leaders of our two countries, deepen Belt and Road Cooperation and practical cooperation in various fields, strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to build a Nepal-China community with a shared future.

Foreign Secretary Rai noted that over the 71 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Nepal and China, the two countries have always developed bilateral relations on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. Nepal firmly adheres to the one-China principle and will never allow any forces to use Nepalese territory for anti-China activities. Nepal stands ready to expand areas of cooperation with China to better benefit the people of both countries.

Ambassador Zhang Maoming and Foreign Secretary Rai jointly presented awards to the winners of the China-Nepal friendship Short Video Contest. Guests praised the award-winning videos for capturing the beautiful moments of people-to-people exchanges between Nepal and China, and witnessing the deep friendship between the Nepalese and Chinese people.
