September is Hunger Action Month, a time when organizations, communities and individuals across the country come together to shine a spotlight on the issue of food insecurity and take meaningful steps toward solutions. At Tyson Foods, this month is especially important as it allows us to highlight a challenge in hunger relief-the lack of access to protein. This protein gap impacts millions of people each year, leaving members of our communities without vital nutrients needed to live healthy lives. That's why Tyson Foods is proud to lead the charge in addressing this issue through support of one of our most impactful initiatives: Protein Pack Rooms.

Protein Pack Rooms are dedicated spaces within food banks where bulk protein donations are portioned into family-sized servings, ensuring more efficient and equitable distribution. By investing in these rooms, Tyson Foods is not only helping food banks serve their communities more effectively but also building sustainable solutions that will have an impact for years to come. This type of infrastructure allows food banks to expand their capabilities and provide protein consistently, bridging a critical gap in the fight against hunger. That's why last year, Tyson Foods invested $2.5 million with Feeding America, allocating $1.25 million specifically to Protein Pack Rooms. This investment laid the groundwork for enhanced efficiency and scalability.

What makes the initiative especially impactful is the efficiency it creates. Tyson Foods brings together the expertise of our transportation, engineering, food safety and operations departments (and more!) to coordinate each step in the process. From optimizing how protein moves from our facilities to food banks, to designing the rooms that maximize safety and productivity, to ensuring timeliness and effective planning, our company provides the same know-how that drives our business success to drive community impact.

Of course, these rooms wouldn't be possible without product to fill them, and that's where Tyson Foods' ongoing protein donations and discounted product sales continue tomake a difference. Each year, pounds of various Tyson Foods products are donated to food banks nationwide. These products, no matter the size or how they are packaged, can now go directly into Protein Pack Rooms, where they are repackaged into portions designed for local families and organizations, as well as to be shared with the nationwide network of food banks. By aligning our donations with this infrastructure we helped create, we're ensuring the right food gets to the right places in a way that is both impactful and efficient. From New York to Louisiana, and Massachusetts to South Carolina, our protein donations make their way into the food system efficiently.

This Hunger Action Month, we are proud to elevate the work being done through Protein Pack Rooms and reaffirm our commitment to closing the protein gap. This work impacts the entire country and ultimately pushes forward a huge innovation for the charitable food system. Every investment, every donation and every hour volunteered brings us one step closer to a future where families no longer worry about where their next meal will come from. Addressing hunger means addressing accessibility, and together, we can create stronger, healthier communities and truly feed the world like family.
