PPG introduces enhanced formulation of PPG SELEMIX 7-159 Direct Pro 2K acrylic topcoat

Delivers superior corrosion protection, application performance

PITTSBURGH, July 2, 2026 - PPG (NYSE: PPG) today introduced an enhanced formulation of PPG SELEMIX® 7-159 Direct Pro 2K acrylic topcoat for the light industrial coatings market in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The enhanced product addresses increased corrosion requirements in the direct-to-metal coatings segment.

PPG Selemix 7-159 Direct Pro topcoat sets a new benchmark in corrosion protection: Salt spray resistance has been significantly enhanced, and the product is now certified to C5M ISO 12944-6, indicating a high level of protection in industrial applications. The ISO certification, which tests both environmental corrosivity and coating durability, confirms the superior corrosion resistance and increased reliability in demanding light industrial environments.

The enhanced formulation also expands application flexibility. It is optimized for use with air-assisted airless systems improves efficiency for end users, while improved sag resistance ensures greater control during application. The formulation delivers a consistent, high-gloss surface appearance achievable by applicators of all skill levels.

PPG Selemix 7-159 Direct Pro coating is engineered for stable and controlled application. Its high solids content, combined with efficient and reliable processing in manufacturing, results in an economical and low-VOC direct-to-metal solution for steel, galvanized substrates and aluminum.
