Association Joins Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester to Celebrate 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act

The Association joined U.S. Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester to celebrate the passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, a package aimed at expanding housing supply and improving affordability for families and communities.

The legislation includes five key housing supply and affordability measures, including the Credit Union Board Modernization Act, which reduces the required number of credit union board meetings to six per year. The change gives credit unions greater flexibility in how they govern and operate while allowing boards to remain focused on serving members and their communities.

During the celebration at Imani Village in Wilmington today, Sen. Blunt Rochester thanked credit unions for their continued support of housing initiatives and recognized the important role they played during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing financial assistance and support to individuals and families facing economic hardship.

She also expressed her appreciation for the credit union movement's commitment to strengthening communities and said she looks forward to continuing the partnership with credit unions in the years ahead.

Representing the Association at the event were Vice President of Advocacy Rory Murray and Del-One Federal Credit Union President and CEO Dan McCarthy.

The Association will continue working with lawmakers to advance policies that provide credit unions with greater flexibility, strengthen their ability to serve members and expand opportunities for financial well-being and homeownership.
