WASHINGTON - Today the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) approved the release of a draft strategic plan for fiscal years 2026-2030, inviting stakeholders to provide feedback on the agency's priorities.
The draft strategic plan provides a comprehensive framework for aligning agency resources to fulfill the EEOC's mission and outlines strategic goals and objectives to guide the agency's work over the next four fiscal years. The draft is posted to regulations.gov where public comments may be submitted by July 19, 2026. Following the public comment period, the draft plan will be presented to the Commission for consideration and final approval.
Highlights of the agency's draft strategic plan include:
"This draft strategic plan provides a roadmap for advancing the EEOC's mission and reflects the agency's commitment to the evenhanded, merit-based enforcement of our nation's federal civil rights laws," said EEOC Chair Andrea Lucas. "It establishes clear priorities and provides the framework for the disciplined execution and responsible stewardship needed to ensure the EEOC remains focused, accountable, and equipped to fulfill the mission Congress entrusted to us in the years ahead."
The EEOC is the sole federal agency authorized to investigate and litigate against businesses and other private sector employers for violations of federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination. For public sector employers, the EEOC shares jurisdiction with the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division. The EEOC also is responsible for coordinating the federal government's employment antidiscrimination effort. More information about the EEOC is available at www.eeoc.gov .
