New Updates on Three Upcoming Netflix Anime Titles Revealed at MAPPA’s 15th Anniversary Presentation

JIMOTO SAIKO! (WT) and BEAT & MOTION are getting anime adaptations from MAPPA, while Ranma1/2 Season 3 reveals a new trailer ahead of its October 2026 premiere.

Netflix is bringing fans a wide-ranging lineup that spans genres, styles and emotions - and three upcoming titles took the spotlight during MAPPA's 15th anniversary lineup presentation on June 19.

During the virtual event, MAPPA - the acclaimed animation studio behind hit series such as Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen - revealed new updates for three titles that will stream worldwide on Netflix: JIMOTO SAIKO! (WT), BEAT & MOTION and Ranma1/2 Season 3.

This marks the first wave of updates following the announcement of Netflix and MAPPA's strategic partnership in January 2026.

JIMOTO SAIKO! (WT)

Originally a viral sensation on social media, the sparkling outlaw manga JIMOTO SAIKO! (by usagi / Saizusha) is officially getting an anime adaptation by studio MAPPA, streaming exclusively on Netflix.

Known for its sharp contrast between adorable art style and a story world that feels like a boiling pot of chaos, JIMOTO SAIKO! follows Chanel-chan and her friends as they navigate life in the hometown they proudly call the "absolute best" - no matter what madness unfolds around them. A new teaser art introduces the girls' beloved hometown, where close friends and sweet older peers surround them. A teaser trailer has also been released, featuring "Milk" by singer-songwriter aiko, a devoted fan of the manga.

Don't miss this slice-of-life story about girls who have never stepped foot outside their hometown who - no matter what happens - will always proudly declare: JIMOTO SAIKO!

The original creator and author usagi shares, "I am absolutely thrilled that the manga I just started randomly putting out there, calling it a 'serialization' on my own whim, is actually being turned into an anime! During the run, when I went bankrupt, my editor lent me a million yen out of their own pocket, and when things got seriously messed up, everyone around me supported me. That's the only reason I was able to keep going. Thank you so much! At first, my only goal was just to make enough to eat, but now, I draw this manga with a certain hope in mind. I don't know what the future holds, but with that hope in my heart, I want to see JIMOTO SAIKO! through to its final chapter! To everyone who has ever read even a single page of it, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I am so, so excited for the anime!"

Singer-songwriter aiko adds, "I am SO incredibly happy that JIMOTO SAIKO! is getting an anime adaptation! When usagi-sensei came to see one of my live shows a while back, they told me afterward that the imagery of a certain song made them think, 'Wow, this is so JIMOTO SAIKO!'

Hearing that continues to be a huge encouragement for me. When I watched the teaser trailer popping up on a screen, staying completely true to the manga's world, I got so excited! And I was incredibly moved and honored to hear my song "milk" playing in the background! Thank you so much! I am so grateful to be a part of this cutest yet most terrifying world ever-JIMOTO SAIKO! It is absolutely the best! I'm definitely going to watch it with Kingyo (that chili pepper cocktail) ♡"

BEAT & MOTION

Naoki Fujita's manga BEAT & MOTION is officially getting an anime adaptation from MAPPA, coming in 2027, exclusively on Netflix.

The series, serialized on "Shonen Jump+" from February 2023 to January 2025, became the Grand Prix winner of the manga creator scouting audition "MILLION TAG" hosted by Shueisha. Along with this announcement, the teaser trailer, teaser art, and the main cast have also been unveiled. To celebrate the news, MILLION TAG judge Yuji Kaku shared a newly drawn illustration.

BEAT & MOTION is a coming-of-age story about music, animation, and the coming together of creative dreams between Tatsuhiko, a young man who has lost sight of his dream, and Nico, an indie musician who refuses to give up on hers. Though they clash, the two unlock each other's talent and begin moving toward a creative vision neither could reach alone.

Shuichiro Umeda, who plays the voice of Tatsuhiko Hirayama, shares, "Every time I read the original manga or the voice recording scripts and connect with Tatsuhiko's feelings, it naturally takes me back to when I first discovered acting and became completely obsessed with it. That initial raw impulse when you encounter something that shakes your soul. The anxiety and inner conflicts that come with keeping at it. And the miracle-like moments that lie just beyond that. I truly believe this story is packed with all of those things. To anyone who is trying to express something right now, to anyone hesitating before taking the leap, to anyone fighting, and to anyone who has felt broken - I hope this work reaches you. Thank you so much, and please look forward to it!"

Aya Gomazuru, who plays the voice of Nico Kashiwagi, adds, "When I first heard that I got the part, I was filled with so much joy and sheer disbelief that tears just started flowing naturally. There were times in the past when I felt really down because things weren't going my way, but meeting Nico gave me the power to look forward and keep moving. Now, I want to stand by her side and give a gentle push to everyone who watches this show. I'm going to pour my entire soul into playing Nico, treating her with the utmost care! Experiencing the story take shape surrounded by studio MAPPA's incredible animation, an encouraging staff, and a wonderful cast, I'm already shaking with excitement thinking, 'Wow, this is going to turn into something absolutely legendary...?!' Please look forward to the release!"

MILLION TAG judge Yuji Kaku says, "Congratulations on the anime adaptation! I believe that true, unfiltered feelings are what matter most in creation. In this work, you will find the creator's true feelings, exposed with absolute honesty and sincerity."
