Five Star Subaru of Oneonta presented a check for $29,975 to Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network after it named the Bassett Cancer Institute's planned expansion in Oneonta as its hometown charity for the latest Subaru of America's Share the Love event, held at the end of 2025.
During their visit to FoxCare Center to deliver the check, Five Star Subaru also delivered over a dozen boxes, containing approximately 80 blankets and 30 care packages, all for patients receiving cancer treatments in Oneonta.
"The care that we provide to patients at Bassett Cancer Institute's Hematology and Oncology Center is a vital community resource and we are so proud that we are able to expand to provide care that is even more high-quality," said Rebbecca Tubia, Practice Manager at the Bassett Cancer Institute. "Thank you to Five Star Subaru and their customers for supporting this project and standing beside their neighbors who are going through cancer treatments. We are so grateful for the support."
The 2025 Share the Love event was held from November 20, 2025 to January 2, 2026. During that period, Five Star Subaru donated $250 in the name of each customer who purchased or leased a new vehicle at their dealership to the charitable cause of the customer's choice, along with an additional $500 matching gift.
"We feel honored to have our Subaru dealership in such a wonderful community. To give back is the only thing that has ever made sense to me," said Ben Guenther, President and Owner of Five Star Subaru.
Renovations for an expansion of the Bassett Cancer Institute at FoxCare Center supported by this donation are well underway. The expanded oncology unit will increase access for cancer patients at one of the network's most utilized locations and provide those patients with a more comfortable, soothing environment. It will include additional clinic rooms, nursing stations, infusion treatment bays, a modernized cancer pharmacy, and new cancer-fighting equipment called The Varian Edge Accelerator. The first phase of the project is currently anticipated to be complete by the end of the year.
