The Vanderburgh County Health Department and The Foundation for a Better Health are providing a $1,500 gift to support the continued growth of the University of Evansville's (UE) Aces Swim School.
The funding will help cover lifeguard certifications, background checks, and other operational costs as the program builds on its early success. A check presentation to program founder Evelyn Chin, a senior swimmer and Exercise Science major, took place at the Carson Center on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m.
Led by Chin through several ChangeLabs, and supported by faculty advisors and members of the UE Swimming and Diving team, Aces Swim School offers a free swimming clinic for children ages 6-10 of all ability levels. Participants are grouped by skill level to create a safe, encouraging environment for learning. The goal is to remove barriers to learning how to swim, while making it fun and exciting for the kids.
