The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd.), chaired a meeting of the High Level Foreign Relief Aid Coordination Committee (HL-FRAC) at his office in Colombo on Wednesday (01 July).
The meeting was convened to review the Committee's ongoing work and discuss the final phase of its mandate in coordinating foreign aids (supplies) assistance received for the cyclone Ditwa.
The members primarily deliberated on the preparation of the Committee's final report, and also on obtaining the approval of committee members on the final report, considering any outstanding proposals requiring further attention.
In addition, members also discussed the formal conclusion of the Committee's operations, ensuring that all remaining administrative and coordination responsibilities are completed in accordance with established procedures.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Minister commended the contribution of all stakeholder institutions in facilitating the effective coordination of foreign relief assistance. He further emphasized the need to uphold transparency, accountability and good governance throughout the completion of the Committee's remaining tasks.
Senior officials representing the Ministry of Defence and other relevant government institutions attended the meeting.
